Creative Embellishments November challenge

Hey guys it's the first of the month, so you know what that means. It's time for a new challenge at  Creative Embellishments. They have a challenge each month. Creative Embellishment sells great chipboard pieces, along with stamps stencils and wood veneer pieces. If you haven't checked out their online store, you are really missing out. They have great shipping times and excellent customer service.

Onto the challenge... As usual please be inspired by a least 1 element from the picture and the twist is to use a piece of wood on your project.

Here is the inspiration piece:

Nov challenge

On to my layout I created for the November challenge:

I was inspired by the fall colors and the overall feel of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The photos is of the Thanksgiving table setting one year. Dh had to work so instead of me going to family for dinner, I cooked for just the 2 of us before he left for work. I didn't let the fact that it was just the 2 of us keep me from going all out with the table setting.

So, I dug deep into my stash for the papers and flowers. For my chippies, I used the leafy-corner-flourish-set that first covered in clear gesso. Then I painted it with Prima color bloom 2 spray in Golden Walnut.  It's a really pretty green gold color, perfect for this challenge.

For the twist I  added a wooden tag, which I hand wrote my part of my title on.

Here are some close ups of my page:

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to you have all month to join in on the challenge over at Creative Embellishments.

Swirlydoos September *Creamsicle* Kit Full Reveal

Hey everyone, I'm back with my full reveal of projects created with the Swirlydoos September *Creamsicle*  monthly kit. This kit is so jammed packed with gorgeous new papers from Bo Bunny. You have got to get one, if you don't already subscribe.

Last week I gave you a little preview of the kit by showing you the layout I made using our monthly sketch.

Here is the sketch again:

Here is my take on the sketch. This kit is full of fun, bright papers. The bright colors of the papers go so well with the fun mood of my photo.

The kits are jam-packed, so I used very few things from my stash.  Mainly just some ink and paper tearing to complete my page.

Next up is another layout. I used another fun, colorful photo.

I have a few layers going on here.  The frame is from the embellishment kit, I used some crackle paste on it, then brushed it with the artisan powder from the mixed mediums kit. The chipboard piece is also from the embellishment kit. There is a bit of stenciling in the background. This layout is for the All That Flutters Challenge on the forums, hence the butterfly stashed in my floral cluster.

Next up is a Watercolor Canvas. I created this using the Project Kit add on. I had so much fun creating this. I created the background first with a stencil and some modeling paste. Then I used 3 different watercolors.

The watercolors and watercolor canvas are from the kit. The other items I used are from my stash. I used the distress crayons from the kit to color my chipboard  pieces. The inside of the flowers were colored with a bit of watercolor as well.

I have a video on how to use the the distress crayons and watercolor palette from the kit. Here it is:

For my last layout I have a vintage layout.

I used a vintage photo to create this layout. The colors from these papers screamed vintage to me. I have been into the paper tearing a lot lately. I lightly distressed the edges of the torn paper and layered some lace underneath.  I used chipboard from the kit and my stash, added a few flowers and it was done.

Tender moments

It looks like typepad is fully operational again. So I am here today to share a layout I did for the Swirlydoos round robin challenge. Its a monthly challenge where you lift the layout of the person before you. There is always an added twist. This months twist was to use some of the stash that we so love to hoard.

I had the final week of the month, so I got inspiration for 3 ladies ahead of me. I pulled out some older Bo Bunny papers from an older kit and got to work. I stayed with the original design of the first person on our team. Then I used the distress and layering elements from the other 2 ladies on my team. The papers worked so well with an older picture I had of dh and his mom.

I also added a bit of stamping and left the chipboard pieces "nekkid" as I thought they just went better that way. I added some burlap flowers for texture and a bit of "manliness". Overall, I was pleased how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by.
