Live in the Moment with International Scrapbook Garden

Hey everyone, I'm back today to share my last layout for February created using the Toolshed kit: Winter Adventures from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with the Denim and Friends paper line from Maja Designs.

Here is my layout:

Live in the moment

I love this photo of my dh and his very good friend. They look like kids who just got caught doing something they had no business doing. I tried to keep with the playfulness of the photo.

This kit is filled with a lot of fun embellishments.  I used items from the main kit as well as the bonus embellishment and bonus chipboard kit. I pulled in a few things from my stash just to add to it.

Here are some close up:

Live in the moment crop 1

I used a stencil and some modeling paste both from my stash for the background. Then I added a bit of blue embossing powder to the wet modeling paste. I've did some more paper tearing. I also cut some scraps of paper into tags to use.

Live in the moment crop 2

There are fun chipboard pieces and embellishments in the main kit as well as the chipboard bonus kit. I did grab the filmstrip piece from my stash. In most of my masculine layouts I like to leave the chipboard raw.

The flowers are from the bonus embellishment kit. The buttons are in the main kit, so is that awesome clock resin piece. The title pieces are from the bonus embellishment kit. I inked the edges with the blue ink from the main kit.

Forever with International Scrapbook Garden

Hey everyone, I'm back today to share another layout created using this months Toolshed kit: Winter Adventures from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with the Denim and Friends paper line from Maja Designs. It's great for masculine or winter pages, but again I decide to make a feminine layout with it.

Here is my layout:

Forever

This kit is filled with a lot of fun embellishments. The mixed media kit compliments everything so well. I used items from the main kit as well as the bonus embellishment. I pulled in a few things from my stash to make it a bit more girly.

Here are some close up:

Forever crop 1

I used a stencil and some modeling paste both from my stash for the background. Then a bit of stamping with the brown ink from the main kit. I've been into paper tearing a lot lately. To soften it up a bit I added the lace around it.

  Forever crop 2

There are fun chipboard pieces in the main kit as well as the chipboard bonus kit. The chipboard heart is a perfect for girly layouts. To color I used some blue embossing powder from my stash. I added the swirl chipboard piece from my stash to draw your eye to the photo. I embossed it with white embossing powder.

Forever crop 3

The flowers are from the bonus embellishment kit. I dug out some paper clay pieces I made with Prima molds from my stash to tuck into the flower clusters.

Showing more of the fun chipboard, the title is from the main kit. These little words and hearts are so adorable.

Choose to Shine with International Scrapbook Garden

Hey everyone, I'm back today to share another layout created using the January toolshed kit: Winter Adventures from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with the Denim and Friends paper line from Maja Designs. It's great for masculine or winter pages.

Here is my layout:

This kit is filled with a lot of fun embellishments. The mixed media kit compliments everything so well. I used items from the main kit as well as the bonus embellishment and mixed media kits.

Here are some close up:

IMG_4047

I used the Lindy's spray from the mixed media kit  for the background. I also used some gold mist from Prima and some white ink, both from my stash.

IMG_4048

There are fun chipboard pieces in the main kit as well as the chipboard bonus kit. The chipboard pocket pieces are everything. To color mine and give it the distresses look, I just ran the chalk ink (in the main kit) lightly over the chipboard to get the desired color.

That star is real denim and was included in the kit. I just kinda stuffed it in the pocket. The button (also in the main kit) was added to make it look like a real pocket.

IMG_4049

I also did a bit of masking to the background using the stencil in the main kit. Also showing more of the fun chipboard. I just used some navy blue embossing powder on it. The dry wall tape is from my stash. I just colored it using the same chalk ink from the kit.

Here are the kits I used for this layout: ToolshedWinterAdventuresKit

"Untitled" Prince Layout

I'm back with another layout created with the Summer Concert Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. This is the masculine kit, but it had these beautiful yellow papers in it from 13 Arts. So how do you create a masculine layout with yellow paper? Well let me show you what I did.

Here is my layout:

IMG_4023

I incorporated black and grey with the yellow. The chipboard add on had these wonderful chipboard instruments and this guitar was perfect for this photo of Prince. Let's talk about this photo, how perfect was it with the yellow guitar? Oh how I loved Prince.

I colored the music symbol with black archival ink. I left the guitar naked. Like I said I layered torn strips of grey and black paper to break up some of the yellow.

The flowers are from my stash, just some more older petaloo. me grey I'm having a hard time not adding flowers, lol. I used a die cut for the leaves. I also had a guitar pick a friend gave me, talk about the perfect embellishment.

The kit also came with a music note stamp. I did some random background stamping with some grey archival ink. They I added some mini art stones and black splatters.

Here are some close ups:

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Today I am sharing my first layout created with the Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. I don't have my new kit yet, so this layout was created from the previous Summer Concert kit. This kit is the masculine kit. It is filled with wonderful grungy papers from 7 Dots and 13 Arts. Plus tons of chipboard.

So here is my first layout:

IMG_4026

I used lots of the chipboard and layered it all over, I left it natural. I loved the frame with the "You Rock" on it. It was perfect for this photo of my nephew. Those washi tape chippies are amazing. I could use tons more  of those.

I layered a few pieces of paper and tags behind the photo. I also added some Tim Holtz film strip tape to match the paper. The flowers are from my stash, some old petaloo. I added some chicken wire stamping and called it done.

Here are some close ups:

I am so excited to be working with this kit. It really pushes my creativity. I love making layouts with lots of flowers and girly colors, so working with a masculine kit will be fun.

Don't forget to stop by the International Scrapbook Blog on Saturday, the new kits will be revealed. You will love them.

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

CSI -Color Stories Inspiration Case #245

Hey everyone!

It's time for the first Case File of the New Year for CSI - Color Stories Inspiration!

It is also my first case on the CSI Design Team.
I am so excited to be here among these amazing designers.

So here we go with Case File 245

CSI reveal 245

Here is the case file:

245 copy

And--have you heard?--we've got a brand-new twist on our challenge! We're calling it Freestyle, and it's tailor-made for everyone. Like the old, traditional way we've had our challenges? We've still got the traditional clues, which you can find at the bottom. Want to try something new? Freestyle the challenge by interpreting the Case File Scene any way you'd like. Or, combine the traditional with the Freestyle and pick and choose the clues you want. No minimum requirements because CSI is all about inspiration and telling your stories YOUR way.

Remember to scroll all the way down to the bottom of this reveal post for RGB codes, color descriptions, and more detailed explanations of the Evidence and Testimony prompts.

I used the color scheme and threw in some of the evidence. Here is the evidence I used:
Distressed solid background paper
Woodgrain
Polka Dots
Stars

Now for some close ups:
IMG_4022

I used Authentique "Strong" Collection for this layout.

Crop 1

I used a mix of Prima and Petaloo flowers for this. That clock is a Prima resin piece. I hoard my resin pieces, as I love them so.

Crop 2

I have so much chipboard, I try to use at least 1 piece on every layout. These pieces are by Creative embellishments.
The swirls were simply painted. The star frame was first painted with clear gesso then misted with 2 different colors to get the greenish black color.

We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!

The deadline for completing this Case File is Wednesday, January 31, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Be sure to link your layout using the link tool in the sidebar on the CSI blog, and mention the Evidence and Testimony clues you used. Also, please title your link with your name and country. CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration and Swirlydoos

Did you know that Swirlydoos is a monthly prize sponsor for CSI:challenge?

Yep, They have been all year and the DT occasionally plays along with the challenges. Well this month we once again joined in. The case file was a beautiful neutral palette.

CSI is changing the rules up a bit. You can now be inspired by just the scene or you can use the above evidence and testimony. Either way, you still have to use the color scheme to start your layout.

Before I show you my layout, let me tell you how was inspired to create it. I used the case file as my inspiration starting with the evidence (choosing 3 clues). My 3 clues are flowers/leaves, string and fussy cutting. Those tickets layered under my photo were fussy cut from an ephemera sheet.

I also took some inspiration from the scene. In the bottom left corner is some block writing, I thought that writing looked the same as the writing on the title block I used.

Image may contain: 1 person

I created a rustic layout with this neutral palette. I just loved the colors, they had a serene, nature type feel to me. I used papers from 49 and Market, chipboard from Creative embellishments and just some random flowers. I used the Prima rust paste on the chipboard to try and mimic the tree bark in the photo. I think it turned out pretty good.

Don't miss your chance to enter this fun challenge and win some amazing prizes. You might just win the GC to Swirlydoos and you can pick up one of our amazing kits.

Live your Dream with Creative Embellishments

Today I have a my last project for Creative Embellishments to share. This 6 months have flown by, that's because I love designing with the chipboard from Creative Embellishments. If you haven't tried it you MUST!! It really adds something extra to your projects.

For my last project, I have a little canvas to share with you. I was feeling crafty and didn't have a lot of time, so I did this 5x7 canvas and I am so in love with it.

IMG_1070

I have lots of goodies layered on this piece. I started the base with washi tape and just built from there.

There is a lot of misting and splattering on this.  For my chipboard pieces, I used the steampunk-dreamcatcher as my center piece. I used a couple of different colors of chalk ink on it, then I covered it with a clear crackle medium. Once that was dry, I went over it with some distress ink to bring out the cracks.

I also used the gear-1-1/2-set-of-12  tucked in here and there. I used the middle brown color of rust paste to color the gears. Once they were placed on the canvas, I misted everything with some pink and purple mist.

I used lots of lace and some additional metal embellishments. To finish it off, I added lots of art stones (regular and mini).

Here are some close ups:

It has been a pleasure designing for Creative Embellishments, they have been a pleasure to work with. My best to Nicolle and the new designers for 2017. Thanks to all who have viewed and comment on all my work. It has been so easy to create with the wonderful chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishment. Again, if you have't tried them, you absolutely must.

That's all I have for toady. Remember the December monthly challenge is still going on over at Creative Embellishments. We would love it, if you played along. Thanks for stopping by.
