Father and Son Love with International Scrapbook Garden

Hey everyone, today I'm sharing my last layout I created it using the April Toolshed kit:Colorburst from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with papers from 7 Dots and 49 &Market. I have had an amazing time designing with these kits, but due circumstances I must step down from the team. So today I leave you with a very special layout.

Here is my layout:

Father and son

This is such a special layout. It is one of the last photos my dad and brother took together brother took together before dad died a few months later. Even though dad was so thin, you can still see how much they look alike.

I used items from the main kit, the mediums kit, the bonus paper kit and the embellishment kit. I pulled in a few things from my stash to add as well.

Here are some close up:

Father and son crop 1

I used lots of the chipboard on this layout. I took the pebble panel and cut it into pieces. I layered it around the layout. Because I had used the other black pieces of chipboard I wanted to keep these pieces black as well. So I gave all the naked chipboard a coat of black gesso, the I went over it with black distress ink.

Here is more of that great chipboard. I love the clock and gear corner piece. It was a bonus that they were black. Yes, I snuck in a flower.

Here you can see that great clock/gear corner piece. I didn't have to do much to the background as the paper was already distressed.

It has been a pleasure designing for International Scrapbook Garden. I will miss these masculine kits. They have truly pushed me beyond my comfort level. Thanks so much Tracie for the opportunity.

That's all I have for today, thanks for stopping by.

Embrace the Journey with International Scrapbook Garden

Hey everyone, today I'm sharing my first layout for March. I created it using the Toolshed kit: Winter Adventures from The International Scrapbook Garden. This kit is filled with the Denim and Friends paper line from Maja Designs.

Here is my layout:

Embrace the Journey

I used an older black and white photo of dh. I took this a few years ago. Every now and then he will indulge me and go out on a photo shoot with me.

This kit is filled with a lot of fun embellishments.  I used items from the main kit as well as the bonus chipboard kit. I pulled in a few things from my stash to add as well. I added lots of texture to this layout.

Here are some close up:

The burlap flower vine is from my stash. I keep a bunch of textured flowers in my stash for masculine layouts. I love to add flowers to my layouts and I think the textured ones are perfect for the guys.  The buttons, resin clock and that great piece of wood is from the main kit.

There are fun chipboard pieces and embellishments in the main kit as well as the chipboard bonus kit. I used a technique on the chipboard that a really good friend taught me. You cover the chipboard with liquid pearls and before it dries you add embossing powder and heat set it until it bubbles. Once it dries, you have amazing texture.

The keyhole Owl is made from a mold. I used some white crackle paste on it, sprayed with some gold mist then rubbed it with some Prima waxes. The chicken wire is a sticker that I cut up in several pieces. The title piece is  from the bonus embellishment kit. I inked it with brown in from the main kit.

Today I am sharing my first layout created with the Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. I don't have my new kit yet, so this layout was created from the previous Summer Concert kit. This kit is the masculine kit. It is filled with wonderful grungy papers from 7 Dots and 13 Arts. Plus tons of chipboard.

So here is my first layout:

I used lots of the chipboard and layered it all over, I left it natural. I loved the frame with the "You Rock" on it. It was perfect for this photo of my nephew. Those washi tape chippies are amazing. I could use tons more  of those.

I layered a few pieces of paper and tags behind the photo. I also added some Tim Holtz film strip tape to match the paper. The flowers are from my stash, some old petaloo. I added some chicken wire stamping and called it done.

Here are some close ups:

I am so excited to be working with this kit. It really pushes my creativity. I love making layouts with lots of flowers and girly colors, so working with a masculine kit will be fun.

Don't forget to stop by the International Scrapbook Blog on Saturday, the new kits will be revealed. You will love them.

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy with Creative Embellishments

Today I have a project for Creative Embellishments to share. I know I keep saying how I love their chipboard, but I really do. If you haven't tried it you MUST!! It really adds something extra to your projects.

Today I have a layout to share. I did a little mini photo shoot with my niece and came up with some retro looking photos.  This photo is one of my favorites from the shoot.

I used papers from blue fern studios Serendipity line, as they go perfectly with the overall feel of the photo. I loved the designs on this sheet, it just added the little extra.

I did a bit of stamping to add to the background.  For my chipboard pieces, I used the flourish-set-29 in my cluster and off to the left. I heat embossed it with a glitter embossing powder. I used the happy-word-set  for my title. I also heat embossed this with a two-tone embossing powder. It has a golden sheen to it.

I added some of my favorite flowers, embellishments and die cut doily and called it done.

Here are some close ups;

That's all I have for toady. Remember the December monthly challenge is still going on over at Creative Embellishments. We would love it, if you played along. Thanks for stopping by, come back later this week when I share another Swirlydoos project.

Creative Embellishments December Challenge

Hey guys it's the first of the month, so you know what that means. It's time for a new challenge at  Creative Embellishments. They have a challenge each month. Creative Embellishment sells great chipboard pieces, along with stamps stencils and wood veneer pieces. If you haven't checked out their online store, you are really missing out. They have great shipping times and excellent customer service.

Onto the challenge... As usual please be inspired by a least 1 element from the picture and the twist is to add something that dangles to your project.

Here is the inspiration piece:

Dec Challenge photo

On to my layout I created for the December challenge:

For December, I had to use a Christmas photo. This was taken last year with my nieces right before we left for a girls day. We went for lunch and then to see The Nutcracker.

I used a couple of different chippie pieces on this layout. I just love the flourishes and could use them on all my layouts. For this layout I chose flourish set 15.  I heat embossed them with a light pink embossing powder, then used some ice stickles for sparkle. They are really shimmery in real life.

For my piece that dangles, I used the heart dangle 3. It got the same treatment as the flourishes. Once it was dry I added a few small pink pearls to it. I love the way the chipboard turned out.

Here are some close ups:

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to you have all month to join in on the challenge over at Creative Embellishments.

*Celestial Summer* second reveal for Swirlydoos

Today I'm sharing some more of my layouts made with this months kit Celestial Summer. I had such a great time creating with this kit.
First up is a layout featuring my Goddaughter. This photo was taken at her senior prom and it goes so well with the kit. These papers in the kit are amazing. They take mixed media products so well.  I did some masking, misting and stamping to highlight these gorgeous Blue fern papers.
I used items from the main kit as well as the flowers, embellishment and mixed media kit. I also used a few things from my stash. The chipboard is from creative embellishments
My next layout features an older picture of my niece from her kindergarten graduation. There are some Prima Princess papers in this kit, what perfect papers to highlight my sweet little princess. I did some masking and misting. I added a few items from my stash including chipboard from creative embellishments, everything else came from the main kit.
Thanks for taking a peek at my final projects with the Celestial Summer kit. Don't forget to stop by the Boutique and pick up your Celestial Summer kit, if they haven't sold out. Or better yet, never miss another kit by subscribing to the monthly kits.

Forgotten layouts part 1

I thought I shared these layouts, but when I looked back I noticed that they never got posted. These were done with the February Swirlydoos kit. This kit falls into my top ten of favorite kits. It was so fun to work with and until this kit I wasn't a big fan of purple. Turns out with the right pictures, and a good outlook you can do anything.

Here is my first layout from this kit. It is one of my nieces. She is always more than a willing subject when I pull out the camera. This picture is a little older. It was taken at a family BBQ. I love the expression she has on her face.

This layout was chosen as Layout of the Week (2/23) at Swirlydoos and then Layout of the Month (Feb). Who could resist that adorable face?

I also did a layout of her younger sister from the same BBQ. I used the same kit. I love scrapping my nieces.

This kit was loaded with all kinds of goodies. I added a few things from my stash, but most items on both layouts are from the kit.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sister Friends

I back to share another layout done for a challenge at Swirlydoos. There are at least 5 challenges going on every month. This one was done for the March round robin. Its a challenge played in teams where the first person does a layout and the next person list the first persons layout.

For march I went first. This challenge always has a couple of twist to it as well. For March the twist were to use any type of die cut and use a technique from the Swirlydoos Education team. I used several types of die cuts for my layout.

I used a 2 cheery lynn dies for the large and small swirls. I used the Tim Holtz sizzix ornate frame die layered under the photos. The title piece is a Dusty Attic laser die cut piece. The fence is by darice, It came in the kit. This layout was created using Swirlydoos January kit. I used a bit of shimmerz dazzlers for the mixed media. The 2 precious darlings in the pictures are my nieces. They are a year apart and they are the best of friends. They are sister friends.

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to check out the great kits over at Swirlydoos.

Special Moments

Im going to keep this post short and sweet. If you haven't noticed Typepad has been having some issues for the last week. I have been trying to get this layout posted and it just keeps disappearing.

This is a layout I did of my nephew. I took the photo while we were at a birthday party. My nephew was looking thru one of those games with the claw that picks up prizes. I was standing on the other side of the game and just took the picture. I love the way it turned out.

I was waiting for the perfect papers to scrap this picture, then I got the March Swirlydoos kit. The papers in this kit were perfect for it. I also used the March Swirlydoos sketch to create the layout. It's a monthly challenge that anyone can join.

Just about everything on this layout came from either the main kit, the embellishment it or the mixed media kit. The exception is the joint tape, the cheese cloth and the black doily that my husband got for me from the dollar store.

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to visit Swirlydoos and check out the amazing kits, the monthly challenges and the fun filled forums.
