And--have you heard?--we've got a brand-new twist on our challenge! We're calling it Freestyle, and it's tailor-made for everyone. Like the old, traditional way we've had our challenges? We've still got the traditional clues, which you can find at the bottom. Want to try something new? Freestyle the challenge by interpreting the Case File Scene any way you'd like. Or, combine the traditional with the Freestyle and pick and choose the clues you want. No minimum requirements because CSI is all about inspiration and telling your stories YOUR way.

Remember to scroll all the way down to the bottom of this reveal post for RGB codes, color descriptions, and more detailed explanations of the Evidence and Testimony prompts.

Believe

Hey guys, I just want to share a couple of layouts I did for fun. I had some free time in my happy place and I pulled out some of my recent favorites and just played around. I was so much fun to just grab stuff that I have been hoarding and just use it.

This first layout I made using lots of Prima. I just love the Zella Teal line and I had the perfect picture for it.

IMG_4078

Almost everything on this page is from The Zella Teal line. I used some Prima white crackle paste and Lindy's mist (Shabby Turbine Teal and Tibetan Poppy Teal) for the background. The chipboard is Blue Fern Studios. I embossed it with Lindy's Cafe Au Lait.

My next layout was created with Blue Fern Studios products. I used the Tranquility paper line, it's one of my favorites from them.

Here is my layout:

IMG_4081

I love the brown/teal color combo. I went a little chipboard crazy on this one. I think in total I used 7 pieces, all from Blue Fern Studios. I have a huge chipboard addiction, so it felt good to just get a bunch on a page, lol. I treated the chipboard with several different embossing powders.

I used my favorite stencil in the background with some Prima gold crackle paste. I also dug into my lace stash and stuck some here and there.

The flowers are from Petaloo. I really miss their flowers. There is also an old Prima branch in there that I cut up.

That's all I have today. Thanks for letting me share my work with you today. Stop back by tomorrow as I have more to share.

Peace and Love.

"Untitled" Prince Layout

I'm back with another layout created with the Summer Concert Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. This is the masculine kit, but it had these beautiful yellow papers in it from 13 Arts. So how do you create a masculine layout with yellow paper? Well let me show you what I did.

Here is my layout:

IMG_4023

I incorporated black and grey with the yellow. The chipboard add on had these wonderful chipboard instruments and this guitar was perfect for this photo of Prince. Let's talk about this photo, how perfect was it with the yellow guitar? Oh how I loved Prince.

I colored the music symbol with black archival ink. I left the guitar naked. Like I said I layered torn strips of grey and black paper to break up some of the yellow.

The flowers are from my stash, just some more older petaloo. me grey I'm having a hard time not adding flowers, lol. I used a die cut for the leaves. I also had a guitar pick a friend gave me, talk about the perfect embellishment.

The kit also came with a music note stamp. I did some random background stamping with some grey archival ink. They I added some mini art stones and black splatters.

Here are some close ups:

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Today I am sharing my first layout created with the Toolshed kit from International Scrapbook Garden. I don't have my new kit yet, so this layout was created from the previous Summer Concert kit. This kit is the masculine kit. It is filled with wonderful grungy papers from 7 Dots and 13 Arts. Plus tons of chipboard.

So here is my first layout:

IMG_4026

I used lots of the chipboard and layered it all over, I left it natural. I loved the frame with the "You Rock" on it. It was perfect for this photo of my nephew. Those washi tape chippies are amazing. I could use tons more  of those.

I layered a few pieces of paper and tags behind the photo. I also added some Tim Holtz film strip tape to match the paper. The flowers are from my stash, some old petaloo. I added some chicken wire stamping and called it done.

Here are some close ups:

I am so excited to be working with this kit. It really pushes my creativity. I love making layouts with lots of flowers and girly colors, so working with a masculine kit will be fun.

Don't forget to stop by the International Scrapbook Blog on Saturday, the new kits will be revealed. You will love them.

That's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by.

CSI -Color Stories Inspiration Case #245

Hey everyone!

It's time for the first Case File of the New Year for CSI - Color Stories Inspiration!

It is also my first case on the CSI Design Team.
I am so excited to be here among these amazing designers.

So here we go with Case File 245

CSI reveal 245

Here is the case file:

I used the color scheme and threw in some of the evidence. Here is the evidence I used:
Distressed solid background paper
Woodgrain
Polka Dots
Stars

Now for some close ups:
IMG_4022

I used Authentique "Strong" Collection for this layout.

Crop 1

I used a mix of Prima and Petaloo flowers for this. That clock is a Prima resin piece. I hoard my resin pieces, as I love them so.

Crop 2

I have so much chipboard, I try to use at least 1 piece on every layout. These pieces are by Creative embellishments.
The swirls were simply painted. The star frame was first painted with clear gesso then misted with 2 different colors to get the greenish black color.

We trust we've left enough clues for you to solve the case!

DT Badge (framed)

Today I'm sharing my DT projects from the May *Spring Chic* Swirlydoos Kit. We are still playing catch up at Swirlydoos. First from our April kit being so far behind, then the new website and if you are a follower of the Facebook page Swirly Camp. With all the shenanigans going on, I still managed to get some layouts done.

First up is my layout based on the May sketch. It is another beauty.

Here is my layout.

I used items from the main kit and a few pieces from the embellishment add on. The chipboard, doily, butterfly and die cut are from my stash. You can easily re-create this look using die cuts from your own stash.

Next up is a very feminine layout I created using the corrugated paper and chipboard frame we got in the main kit.  You may recognize the 2 cuties. They are my nieces, a few years ago. They show up pretty often in my layouts.

I used lots of the pretty pink and cream petaloo flowers from the flower add on. The chipboard frame was heat embossed with some shabby pink embossing powder from my stash. I did some masking and misting to my background. The mist is from the mixed media kit add on.

My next layout is pretty simple. I had a hard time leaving so much space on the layout. I just wanted to fill the page. It was also a personal challenge to scrap a picture that wasn't perfect. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time scrapping not so perfect pictures. This was is pretty blurry, but the colors are perfect for the papers.

So as we say at Swirly Camp....Challenge Freaking Accepted!!!

IMG_3139
I used more of that awesome corrugated paper. Man, I freaking love that stuff. Flowers are from the main kit and flower add on. I threw in a bit of bling from my stash. We got some really fun micro beads in the mixed media kit. I used them on the frame. I covered the frame in gesso and while it was still wet, I poured on the micro beads. I love how it turned out.

For our Project kit, we got the new Tim Holtz frame. I started working on mine. I decide to go with a travel theme. I printed a few pictures in wallet size and pulled out my travel ephemera. Here is what I have so far.

I'll be adding more pages to this, turning it into a flip album. I am having lots of fun creating with this frame.

That's all I have for today. Thanks for checking out my blog.
